Oreo has released a limited edition rainbow coloured cookie, to show the snack-maker's support for LGBTQ+ History Month.

As part of the brand's partnership with PFLAG National - which works on a number of campaigns promoting allyship - the cookies have been released alongside a short film called Proud Parent.

As you can see above, the touching piece of film focuses on the love between two women, Amy and Jen.

It looks at the relationship between them and highlights the challenges that members of the LGBTQ+ community face when taking their partner home to meet the family.

The moving story shows Jen and her relationship with her dad, with very little dialogue. You watch the meeting of the in-laws progress, with both of them giving Jen's proud dad a massive hug at the end.

The Oreo website reads: "The film shows the love between Jen and Amy, exploring parent-child relationships and the challenges of bringing a partner home for the first time - especially for the LGBTQ+ community. The film highlights the true importance of family love, support, and affirmation."

The cookies themselves aren't available in shops, they are up for grabs on Twitter if you live in the US, where you can enter a competition to get your hands on a packet.

As of 9 October, 10,000 packs of the new rainbow coloured cookies will be up for grabs to fans.

All you have to do is raise a bit of awareness and participate in the #ProudParent campaign.

Head to Instagram or Twitter and share what allyship means to you. Make sure you're following @OREO and remember to tag them in. Also don't forget to use the hashtags #ProudParent and #Giveaway.

Unfortunately for many of us, the Ts and Cs state that the competition is only open to residents of the United States and Puerto Rico - but if that's you, and you're aged 13 or older, then why wouldn't you want to enter?

If you've now got a craving for the sweet treats but you live in the UK, fear not - Oreo has launched a strawberry cream-filled doughnut that you can most definitely get your hands on.

The sweet snack is available in Asda stores and hit the shelves from the end of September .

They are made of a chocolate ring doughnut filled with strawberry-flavoured pink crème, topped with a sweet white icing. As you might expect, there are crumbled-up bits of Oreo cookies on there, helping to create 'the perfect doughnut texture where soft dough meets crunchy biscuit'.
