Everyone loves indulging in a bit of nostalgia once in a while - especially when it involves reminiscing about the brightly-coloured halcyon days of your childhood.

Over on Reddit, people have recently been harking back to the good old days by sharing photos of McDonald's restaurants and products from the 1980s and '90s, from retro Halloween toys and drinks cups to old school breakfasts.

Some '80s kids could even remember a time when McDonald's sold pizza, with one person writing: "I remember this and used to enjoy it occasionally as a kid. NO ONE I know outside of where I used to live has ever heard of pizza at McDonald's. I wondered if it was just a local thing (I grew up in Connecticut). I remember it being short-lived."

Others even claimed they could once get VHS tapes at their local McDonald's.

"I got all three Indiana Jones movies from McDonald's," one misty-eyed Redditor wrote. "$4.99 with a Valu Meal."

And it wasn't just the food people had a lot of love for; some also threw it back to the crockery - including the promotional plastic plates released to tie in with Disney's Hercules movie.

One Reddit user said: "I've Phil and the Muses in my cabinet right now - I went and grabbed them from my cabinet and looked at them and even though I ate off of them a ton and the damn things went though the dishwasher, the McDonald's 1997 sticker is still on the back of one of them."

Others have simply been using the online forum to share anecdotes of their McDonald's experience.

"When I was a little guy the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers came to my McDonald's one Saturday morning," one commented.

"I had never had McDonald's breakfast before either so my dad brought my brother and I to see the Rangers and eat breakfast. We got there early and I got one of these to share with my little brother and the syrup packet somehow ended up all over my shirt.

"I was a sticky, uncomfortable mess. Looking back, I feel bad being the sticky kid trying to hug some random people dressed in costume."

There was a lot of love for the old furniture, too.

Last year, one McDonald's fan shared a photo of the old high chair they'd managed to pick up at a flea market, writing: "I've always wanted one but never wanted to pay the stupid high prices. I spend about 3-4 days a week walking around different flea markets and thrift store, I figured I'd eventually find one for cheap."

One impressed Reddit user gushed: "Dude, holy grail of nostalgia, geez! Well done."

Someone else also recalled: "Our local McDonald's had this giant cheeseburger you could climb on. I loved to sit on top of it and look around."

Ah, to be a kid again...
