People Completely Baffled By Meal That Comes In Pint Of Guinness

The internet has been collectively confused by a photo of a meal served in a Guinness pint glass, saying it's the 'most disgusting' thing they've ever seen.

The snap was shared by popular social media page S*** London Guiness, which documents disappointing pints of Guinness found in London.

For one of its latest posts, however, the page has gone one step further, having shared a snap of the bizarre meal - which appears to be some sort of take on a cottage or shepherd's pie, with the layers piled up into a pint glass.

"This is the most disgusting thing I've ever seen," the caption said.

One person commented: "What is it? It looks like a cottage pie in a pint glass."

Another wrote: "Good god! I can't believe such an abomination exists."

A third person said: "Pretty much the worst insult you could give a Guinness glass that."

Tagging a friend, a fourth wrote: "This has actually upset me."

Their pal replied: "That's criminal."

Another agreed: "This is a hate crime."

Mind you, not everyone found an issue with the concept, with one saying: "Weird there seems to be nothing wrong with this at all."

Another person from the same camp said: "Looks delish tbh."

But while many people were busy scratching their heads over the food itself, one person took it upon themselves to work out where the meal could be found - having spotted a coaster in the background of the image.

They wrote: "While the coaster may say 'New Sydney Hotel', it's located in Hobart, which is in Tasmania [in Australia]. They're a bit different down there...."

And lo and behold, the New Sydney Hotel's menu does, indeed, feature a 'Guinness Pie' for AUD $26 (£14/US $£17), which comes with 'mash' and 'charred greens'.

There's also a 'Squid and Chorizo' dish with tomato braised chickpeas, kale, fennel and gremolata, which looks like it could be the meal in the background of the photo.

The pub's website refers to the venue as a 'laid-back watering hole' with a 'roaring fire, the best craft brews and delicious pub meals', saying: "At 'The New Syd' we have always done things a little differently..."

Thankfully, for anyone not convinced by the cottage pie in a pint glass - I won't lie, I've kind of come round to the idea - it looks like the pub can serve up a decent Guinness, which is of course what matters most.
