Petition Started To 'Change Rainbow Paddle Pop Flavour Back'

"I used to be able to eat Rainbow Paddle Pops one after another like they were nothing, but now I can't even get myself through one."

Paddle Pops are one of those food items that are treasured in Australia, alongside Lamingtons, Vegemite and pavlovas.

Whether you're a chocolate, rainbow or banana Paddle Pop devourer, they're all bloody delicious.

But it seems like there is a bit of concern about everyone's favourite rainbow (but secretly caramel) flavoured ice cream - so much so that an online petition has been started.

Bailey Retschlag started the petition because they want Streets to change the flavour 'back' to what it used to be.

They wrote on Change.org: "I'm sure a lot of you have noticed that Rainbow Paddle Pops don't taste nearly as good as they used to since a few months ago. A few months ago they used to be delicious and melt in your mouth, but now they taste bland and have a very weird texture.

"I don't even really know how to describe how they've changed, my point is they have, and the change has been a really bad one in my opinion. I used to be able to eat Rainbow Paddle Pops one after another like they were nothing, but now I can't even get myself through one.

"The box of them has been left half full in the freezer for months; before the flavour change that would have never happened, a box of them would be lucky to last a couple of days, let alone a couple of months.

"If you agree with me and think the new Rainbow Paddle Pop flavour/recipe change is not-so-good, sign this petition and try to get them to notice and hopefully change the flavour back. I really think they ruined the Rainbow Paddle Pop with this change.

The formula was changed earlier this year so that they can be sold at schools in New South Wales.

There was a lot of chatter about the change when it happened as loads of Paddle Pop lovers thought it made the ice creams taste worse not better.

A Unilever spokesperson released a statement at the time to the Daily Mail, saying: "We recently made a slight change to the formulation of our Paddle Pop products which means that these products, as well as being a source of calcium, are also a source of fibre and meet a Health Star Rating of 3.5.

"This puts them in line with the NSW School Canteen requirements and reinforces our commitment to produce better snacks for children.'

"As a business, we are dedicated to encouraging healthy eating habits, offering greater choice to consumers and ensuring responsible marketing for all ages."
