A social media user has shared a nifty little hack for eating fast food in the car without making a mess.

TikTok user Mariale Marrero (@marialenopara) shared a video showing her 'drive thru hack' in action, racking up more than 318,000 views and 66,000 likes in the process.

In the clip, Mariale begins with a meal of chicken nuggets, fries and a milkshake.

But rather than tentatively placing those nuggs on the dashboard or popping the shake in the footwell ready to be kicked over, there's a method lets you hold your entire feast in just one hand.

She opens up the carton of chicken nuggets and puts it on top of the milkshake, piercing the straw through the hinge of the lid.

Mariale then pours fries into the lid, meaning they straddle the straw along with the nuggets, both weighing each other down.

She shows off her one-handed meal to the camera, surrounded by a blissfully-tidy car - not a single napkin, carton or wayward chip to be seen.

Many people commented on the video to praise the idea - which has actually been floating around online for some time, having been shared by various social media users.

One person wrote: "Wow."

Another said: "Gonna do that."

Mariale's video was posted last year, but has recently re-surfaced - which is hardly surprising, given that eating fast food in our car is about as close to the restaurant experience as we're going to get at the moment.

Thankfully, McDonald's has made sure its menu is full of new items and returning favourites to ensure our takeaway feasts are at least tasty ones.

Not only did the fast food giant recently announce the comeback of the Big Tasty, which returned on 30 December, it also launched some Katsu Curry Chicken Nuggets.

Raving about the new nuggets, a spokesperson for McDonald's said: "The new limited edition Katsu Curry Chicken McNuggets are a match made in heaven and everything you didn't know you needed until this very moment.

"Hitting our restaurants on the 30 December, they are the tastiest way to wave goodbye to 2020 and start the new year as you mean to go on!

"If you want to try them then you'll have to be quick, as they're around for just six weeks."
