UK's First Permanent Vegan Butcher Opening On World Vegan Day

The UK's first permanent vegan butcher is due to open in London at the beginning of next month, its launch tying in with World Vegan Day on 1 November.

Rudy's Vegan Butcher is the new venture from the folk behind Rudy's Vegan Diner in Camden, promising plant-based versions of meat staples like bacon, black pudding, turkey and burger patties.

The new shop in Islington looks a lot like a traditional butcher's, with a CGI image of the store layout showing it'll have a huge counter displaying vegan produce.

Along with all the staples for a barbecue or a Saturday morning fry-up, there's even going to be a full meat-free charcuterie selection, including the likes of smoked ham, salami de Provence, pepperoni and pastrami - perfect for a night in with a bottle of wine.

To celebrate the big launch, Rudy's is also giving away 100lbs of free baycon (that's plant-based bacon, obviously) to the first 200 customers through the door, with each customer getting 'half a pound' of the stuff while stocks last.

"In just two weeks on World Vegan Day, Rudy's Vegan Diner is bringing the first permanent vegan butcher to London town," a post on social media says.

"Imagine stocking your fridge with Chef @matthew.j.foster's homemade pastrami, dirty burger patties, cheeze sauce & chilli-non-carne. Take them home with you & get creative in the kitchen!

"You can even recreate your own Rudy's specials and fill your basket with a rack of jack, lobstah salad, meatballs, chick'n lover pate, shredded BBQ pulled porc and even roast turk'y!"

For those who aren't based in London, there's also nationwide delivery so you can get your haul sent to you direct.

The post continues: "If you can't make it to London, don't worry! You can order Rudy's Vegan Butcher goodies ONLINE & we deliver nationwide.

"All online orders made on World Vegan Day include a FREE pack of baycon.

"Remember to pile your online basket high with homemade scramble v-egg, soysage patties & bloody delicious black puddin' to go with that free baycon."
