UK's First Vegan Butcher Sells Out Online After Successful First Day

The UK's first vegan butcher has sold out of stock online following a successful opening yesterday - which saw people trailing down the street to queue for the service:

Rudy's Vegan Butcher revealed how they will be back up and running with all their plant-based goods when the team has managed to restock everything.

The vegan diner opened yesterday (1 November) - on World Vegan Day - and queues could be seen down the street in London where people were lining up to get their meat-free versions of things such as bacon, black pudding, turkey and burger patties.

Sharing a video of the queues on their Instagram page, Rudy's wrote: "This was the line at 10:54am before we even opened and it didn't slow down for hours!

"100 online orders in the first ten minutes! Thank you to everyone who stopped by, messaged with love, ordered online and shouted out our news.

"It was an unbelievable turn out. We are so blessed to have your support and feel overwhelmed by all the love. THANK YOU, thank you a million times and more."

The amount of people could have had something to do with the fact that Rudy's also gave away 100lbs of free baycon (that's plant-based bacon, obviously) to the first 200 customers through the door, with each customer getting 'half a pound' of the stuff while stocks last.

As well as selling plant-based barbecue staples, there's even going to be a full meat-free charcuterie selection, including the likes of smoked ham, salami de Provence, pepperoni and pastrami - perfect for a night in with a bottle of wine.

After Rudy's announced they'd sold out of stock online, one person wrote: "Love this such a great way to show all the people who mocked this idea just how stupid they sound."

Another added: "This is amazing news! Looking forward to a restock!" And a third commented: "Amazing! Congratulations guys. I was too slow this time, but I look forward to getting some bits in at the first chance."
