Wetherspoon has launched a new range of breakfast muffins, starting from just £1.99.

The pub chain is serving up four different varieties of breakfast muffins: egg and bacon, egg and sausage, the 'breakfast muffin' with both bacon and sausage, and egg and cheese.

All eggs used in the muffins are free range, RSPCA assured and freshly fried, while each muffin contains fewer than 500 calories.

Almost 750 of the company's 875 pubs will be selling the egg and cheese muffin for £1.99, the egg and bacon muffin and the egg and sausage muffin for £2.39, and the breakfast muffin for £2.59.

Prices may be higher at the other 125 or so pubs.

The muffins will be available as part of the breakfast menu, which is available until 11.30am every day.

The popular pub empire has also cut the price of tea and coffee to 99p, meaning customers can now get lattes, cappuccinos, flat whites, espressos, black coffees, white coffees and tea - with free refills - for less than a pound.

Wetherspoon founder and chairman, Tim Martin, said: "We are continually striving to provide our customers with great quality, choice and value and this new breakfast muffin range adds to our already-huge range of breakfast menu choices.

"Together with our exceptional value coffee and tea, at just 99p, our breakfast offering just got even better."

The chain has also launched its festive menu, which will be served right up until Christmas Eve.

There are four festive burgers to choose from: brie and bacon, chicken and stuffing, buttermilk chicken and stuffing, and brie and cranberry vegetable.

There's also a chicken, stuffing, bacon and brie pizza, topped with apricot and cranberry stuffing and rocket, as well as a brie and smoky chilli jam pizza.

If you're not quite so hungry, you can get a pigs in blankets small plate, comprised of seven pork chipolata sausages wrapped in streaky bacon, with cranberry sauce.

And if you've got a sweet tooth, then there's the Christmas gingerbread muffin.

Wetherspoon describes the dessert as follows: "This moist, light, ginger sponge, with its warming flavour, comes with a gooey ginger-flavour syrup filling and is topped with caramel icing and a mini gingerbread man.

"Made by Cherrytree Bakery, a small family-owned Lancashire-based bakery supplier, each little gingerbread man is hand placed on every muffin."

Of course, the availability of all of the above is subject to whatever tier you will find yourself in from tomorrow (Wednesday 2 December).
