Woolworths have kicked off a new promo in which customers can now accrue 'container credit' for every $20 spent in store or online by using their Everyday Rewards card where they can then cash their points in for a glass container set.

In the supermarket's latest effort to reduce food waste, the promotion - which comes just in time for the Chrissy season and all those delicious leftovers that come with it - kicks off from November 11, with the premium 7-piece stackable set available in various shapes and sizes.

The container are made from tempered borosilicate glass, which means that it's safe to use in the oven and broiler (without the lid), microwave, refrigerator, freezer and dishwasher. The plastic lid includes a four hinge locking mechanism and silicone seal, helping to keep food fresh, and a steam vent to cook or reheat food in the microwave.

Woolworths Chief Marketing Officer Andrew Hicks said of the promotion: "Between Christmas, New Year, and back to school, customers have a busy few months ahead of them and will be looking for ways to get the most value from their shop."

"Our new line of glass containers are a great solution to store, cook, and share fresh food while making meals last longer. They're a practical kitchen staple that customers can enjoy long after the Christmas season ends."

He added: "We know how much Woolworths customers enjoy our collectible programs and these new glass containers are one of the many ways we're helping Aussies get the most value from their shop this Christmas season."

Woolies customers will need to be an Everyday Rewards member to get container credits and collect glass containers, and if you're not a Rewards member yet you can sign up here. Alternatively, shoppers can buy the containers outright from their local store.

The cheapest container is worth 20 credits, while the most expensive is worth 40.

The promo runs from November 11, 2020, to February 2, 2021 and customers can continue redeem glass containers - but not collect credits - from February 3 to February 16, 2021, or while stocks last.
