You Can Now Get A Big Mac With Bacon In Britain

Oh, and the Grand Mac and Mac Junior are back!

You might not realise it yet, but today is a significant day in the history of food. Well, certainly the history of fast food.

The biggest name in the business, the McDonald's Big Mac, is to get it's first makeover in the UK since it was released in 1968. It's so simple it's genius - they're adding bacon.

Yep, as of today you'll be able to get McDonald's flagship sandwich that ordinarily consists of two beef patties, McDonald's special sauce, lettuce, cheese, and onions, with added bacon.

On top of that, they're going to bring back two more burgers with added bacon. Remember last year when Maccies introduced the Grand Mac and the Mac Junior? Well now they're returning to stores in the UK with - you've guessed it - added bacon!

Dreams do come true, it turns out.

The Big Mac, Grand Mac, and Mac Junior.

In case you hadn't guessed, the Grand Mac is basically the same as a normal Big Mac, but GRAND. That basically means that it's well bigger than a normal Big Mac.

The Mac Junior is exactly the opposite of that, it's the Big Mac for those with only a junior sized appetite. Great news if you're trying to shift a bit of post-Christmas poundage but still want your regular McDonald's fix. Banging.

So, let's get down to business. How much is this going to cost you?

This. But with bacon. Oh yeah...
McDonald's

It's good news. The Big Mac with Bacon is only £3.09 for just the sandwich. A Grand Mac with Bacon will set you back an extra quid at £4.08. The Mac Junior with Bacon is going to be £2.29.

In the same fashion as last year, this is a limited time only offer. If you want to pick up one of these sandwiches you'll have to get there before March 19th.

If it's anything like last time you might have to wait until then to finally lay your greasy mitts on one of the limited edition sandwiches.

Upon the release of the Grand Mac and Mac Junior last January they were a total sell out. At the time, a McDonald's spokesperson told Gazette Live in Middlesbrough: "Due to the overwhelming popularity of our new Grand Big Mac some of our restaurants experienced higher than expected demand resulting in the burgers being sold out for a short period of time."

Let that be a warning to you.

A Big Mac, about to meet it's end.

The Big Mac has been a big hitter since it was first introduced 51 years ago. It was created by Maccies franchise owner Jim Delligatti in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, to compete with a rival chain's larger burger - The Big Boy Burger.

Interestingly enough, they experimented with calling it 'The Aristocrat' and the 'Blue Ribbon Burger' before settling on the name that we all know and recognise today.

Surely, bacon can only add to that.
