The coronavirus pandemic has caused loads of normal social interactions to be cancelled and banned.

Whether it's your daily routine at the gym, a few cold ones at your local pub, or your weekly prayer at your place of worship, life has certainly changed.

But many have had their dream days ruined because their government has restricted wedding sizes or banned them altogether.

While it's caused scores of people to postpone their nuptials, one lucky couple has managed to find a way around the rules...kind of.

Sharmin Asha and Nazmul Ahmed got to have their special day online with their closest mates on the video game Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

It's a social simulation game where you play as a character and collect things, build things and explore loads of places. You can interact with other users and that's exactly what this couple did for their wedding.

Sharmin and Nazmul were all set for their big April 12 wedding, however the outbreak of the virus saw their plans change.

Nazmul told Insider he planned the big moment in secret.

"I let our best friend know that, 'Hey, so I have this secret event planned out,'" he said.

"I just sent a picture of the N and the S on the beach, and my friend started freaking out because she immediately got what I was trying to do."

Once the beach wedding scene was set up in the game, Nazmul invited Sharmin to play the game with him under the guise that they'd be finding resources to use.

Then out of nowhere, their closest friends popped up and were able to have a ceremony.

Sharmin told Insider: "He was hosting all of our friends on his island too and they all kind of like stood on the sides of the aisle.

"He put some roses down on the floor for me to pick up and a dress to put on and everything. It was honestly all very, very sweet."

It might not have been the big day that the couple had been planning, but it's something to alleviate the symptoms of staying indoors all the time due to the pandemic.

Other couples can use this as inspiration for their special day if theirs has been cancelled.
