As many gamers amongst you will be aware, it's coming to the time again when the entire video gaming world gears up for the E3 conference in Los Angeles, California.
If you're not familiar with that, it's basically like Gamer Christmas. All of the big companies come along and most of them announce new and exciting games that they are planning to bring out.

As is usually the case in the gaming world, there has been the usual number of leaks and accidental reveals - significantly by Walmart's Canadian website. An eagle-eyed internet sleuth spotted that they were advertising a whole heap of games that haven't even been announced yet on their website.
Alongside such big hitters as another Gears of War, and the next Assassin's Creed, was a brand-new Splinter Cell game on Amazon.
This is exciting news indeed. There hasn't been a game from the series inspired by the books of Tom Clancy since 2013's Blacklist.
Fans have been asking for a new Splinter Cell title for a good while though. In fact, at last year's E3 conference one of the Ubisoft (the company that makes the game) staff pretty much admitted they were working on it.
It wasn't just any old member of Ubisoft staff either, it was their CEO Yves Guillemont. He said: "I can't say much about that. But, for sure, all the Clancy games are taken care of.

"It's just we have quite a lot on our plate at the moment...[A]ll the Clancy games are really coming along, so we are not forgetting Splinter Cell."
It looks like this year's conference might be the time that they are finally ready to announce the next steps in the Splinter Cell saga. It is not yet known whether they are actually working on anything yet, as these things tend to make their way out into the public domain somehow, but if they are there is a chance it will be out this year
If they haven't already started making it, it's unrealistic to expect that they'll throw it out before 2019 or 2020. But that's fine - fans can start their anticipation once it is officially confirmed.
Either way, the earlier leak seemed to think that it will be coming out on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, at the very least.

The Splinter Cell games began in 2002 and since there have been 7 games (and one Ghost Recon title) and a whole heap of great reviews.
Any announcement of a new game would be big news in the gaming world.
