Travis Scott To Premiere New Song During Live In-Game Fortnite Concert

The rapper will perform five live in-game concerts for players

Travis Scott is to premiere a new song during a live concert on Fortnite, it has been confirmed.

The rapper had long been rumoured to be playing an online event, but Epic Games, the company behind the hit video game, has now revealed the exciting news.

Fortnite and Travis Scott Present: Astronomical is a live in-game gig, which will allow players to watch the Houston rapper perform some new material.

The 27-year-old's performance is billed as a 'tour', with five appearances over three days so that every one of his fans around the world - who has the game, of course - is able to see it.

But if the sheer joy of his music wasn't enough, ahead of the gig, gamers will also be able to download exclusive outfits and emotes, based on Scott, by completing in-game challenges.

Writing on the event's website, Epic Games told fans they were going to head off into 'a one of a kind musical journey'. A statement reads: "Astronomical is an other-worldly experience inspired by Cactus Jack's creations, built from the ground up in Fortnite.

"To make sure everyone has a chance to experience Astronomical, we're setting up multiple tour dates with showtimes for players around the globe.

"Jump in to whichever time fits your schedule best, or catch an encore with your friends if they missed it."

Adding: "Arriving before Astronomical, we're excited to announce that Travis Scott is the newest addition to the Icon Series. Get his Outfits, Emotes, and more starting April 21. And if you attend any of the Astronomical events, you'll score this Astroworld Cyclone Glider and two loading screens for free!"

Scott has also confirmed the news on Twitter, sharing a link to his website with a poster showing the times and dates of his performances.

Posting the link, he shared an image of his Fortnite avatar, writing: "TOOK IT STRAIGHT FROM OUTSIDE STRAIGHT TO THE COUCH CACTUS JACK FOR FORTNITE."

The schedule for the gigs is:

  • April 23rd; The Americas, 7PM ET
  • April 24th: EU & ME, 10AM ET
  • April 25th: Asia & Oceania, 12AM ET
  • April 25th: EU & ME, 11AM ET
  • April 25th: The Americas, 6PM ET

Since news of the event was confirmed, the singer's fans have been sent into a frenzy, with dozens claiming they were going to download the game just to see it.

Commenting on his post, one person wrote: "'I'm downloading fortnite because travis scott will be in it' is a sentence I thought id never say," while a second exclaimed: "THANK YOU THIS MADE THE QUARANTINE 100 TIMES BETTER."
