A £15 million ($19.9m) mansion has been named Rightmove’s most-viewed property of the year, boasting such luxury features as an equestrian centre, private gym and cinema room.

While many of us spent lockdown (sorry, lockdowns) pining after a bigger garden or an extra bedroom ready to be converted into a study, it seems some people were busy fantasising about underground car ports and swimming pools – just a couple of features prospective buyers can expect from Aspen House.

Along with five ‘bedroom suites’, all boasting walk-in wardrobes and en-suites, the property also has no less than six bathrooms, along with a lower-ground floor leisure complex with a large garage, swimming pool, bar and dance floor, cinema, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi.

The property's description on Rightmove reads: “Beautifully constructed to the highest specification and with the very best design.

"The use of weathered oak and lime rendered walls with rosemary roof tiles is commonly used in the surrounding villages and towns, in keeping with neighbouring houses and the countryside.”

The underground car port has space for 10 cars, with a ‘turntable and car lift up to its own drive’.

As for outside, the listing explains: “The house sits in the middle of the extensive formal gardens, consisting of extensive mature shrubs and trees and beautifully maintained lawns.

“There is a large rear seating area and a cabana with views over towards the equestrian centre and the main paddocks. The grounds are a balance between a formal and paddock island which is used as a turnout for the horses.

"The grounds of Aspen House have been carefully designed by landscape architects.”

The on-site equestrian centre also has its own entrance, leading through to a ‘beautiful purpose-built American barn with ten loose boxes, an office/wc, a tac room and a saddle room’.

“There is additional stabling with four loose boxes and there is an oak-framed haybarn with storage and an Olympic sized riding are,” the description adds.

Speaking about Rightmove’s 2021 annual report, the site’s Property Expert Tim Bannister said: “This year in property has really been like no other.

"We’ve seen people imagining the life that could be in the countryside, looking at what’s on offer by the coast, and more recently, reigniting their curiosity about the city.

"All of this is apparent in our most viewed homes of the year, where there really is a dream home for everyone, from a London manor house just yards from Hampstead Heath to a coastal escape with direct access to the sea in Cornwall.

"Britain continues to have a real fascination with property this year, and a passion for homes of varying designs, layouts and locations.”
