Human Remains Discovered In Car Linked To Student That Went Missing 45 Years Ago

The car of Kyle Clinkscales, a student that went missing 45 years ago, has been discovered in Alabama creek with human remains inside.

The car of Kyle Clinkscales, an Auburn University student that went missing 45 years ago, has been discovered in Alabama creek with human remains inside.

Since 1976, investigators have ever since been searching for answers as to why the man disappeared and only now can we say that they may have finally found what they were looking for.

The 22-year-old student went missing on January 27, 1976 after a witness saw him leave his place of work in his 1974 Ford Pinto to drive back to Auburn University.

Evidence suggests that he never made it back to his university as all his clothes and toiletries were still present in his place of residence and his cards have never been used to this day.

At the time, after ruling out a return to university, police investigators began the hunt for Clinkscales’ white Ford and reportedly even drained a lake in 1997 during the hunt.

Up until Tuesday (December 7), 45 years after Kyle disappeared, nobody seemed to know what had happened to the car and the case remained unsolved.

However, this all changed when an unnamed man saw what appeared to be a car half submerged in a creek and called 911.

Police arrived to find the 1974 Ford Pinto belonging to Kyle, of which they confirmed by locating his wallet, credit cards and ID inside.

Human remains were also found inside the car, Sheriff James Woodruff from Troup County stated at a press conference.

Those remains are currently being analysed by scientists in order to confirm if they are, in fact, Kyle’s.

The Sheriff also stated: "For 45 years we have searched for Kyle and his car. We have followed hundreds of leads and never really had anything substantial develop from those leads.”

He continued: “Just the fact that we have hopefully found him, and the car brings me a big sigh of relief.”

The case of the missing Kyle Clinkscales has been in the press numerous times over the last 45 years as his parents and the police have put out a number of appeals and followed many different leads, even going across state lines to try to find him.

Notably, Kyle’s parents put out several rewards in the paper looking for information, travelled to Texas after they received a call from a woman who told them she felt she had seen Kyle and even contacted a psychic.

The press also released many claims that Kyle had been murdered over the years.

Kyle Clinkscales’ parents both passed away before this discovery was made, his father in 2007 and his mother in January this year.
