A man has been charged with murder following the death of his wife just two days after she signed a life insurance policy worth $250,000, according to police.
41-year-old Christopher Collins has been charged with killing his wife, Yuan Hua Liang, after her body was discovered in their home in Texas on November 18.
Apparently, Collins had been to ‘great lengths’ to convince the investigators that his wife was killed by intruders into their home in Cypress, which isn’t far from Houston.

46-year-old Liang was discovered to have died from a single gunshot wound to the head, and had signed an expensive life insurance policy just days before, prosecutors argue.
Furthermore, the authorities believe that Liang was killed by a round from a .22 or .25 calibre firearm.
Collins said that his wife bought him a .9 millimetre pistol, but said that he didn’t have the ammo for it.

However, officers later discovered a .22 millimetre cartridge inside his pocket.
The autopsy also found that a cloth bag had been placed over the woman’s head after she had been killed, and deputies said that they responded to reports of an argument at the home on the same day she was discovered dead.
In a police report, it is said that Collins called the cops for a welfare check on his wife after receiving a text message from her stating that someone had broken into their home.
“The caller reported that he lost contact with his wife, shortly after she reported a suspicious male near their residence,” the report reads.

“The deputy entered the residence with the husband and they discovered the wife deceased, inside the house.”
Court documents say that Collins ‘paused momentarily in the doorway, dropped his bags and ran into the living room where Liang was found lying on the floor with visible blood on her shirt and a bag covering her head,’ according to news outlet KHOU.
“(There were) no signs of forced entry into the home from inside. The officers observed the backdoor was unlocked, and four dogs were in the backyard,” prosecutors said.

Collins is being held on a $150,000 bail bond, and will appear in court on Monday.
He told police that he didn’t return back to then home he has owned for the past eight years immediately because the welfare check was ‘probably nothing’, he said.
Collins also alleged that his wife had paranoid tendencies, whilst telling them that he used the surveillance cameras – of which he had a live feed but no recording – to monitor his wife whilst he was out of then country.
