Back in 2015, McKinley, Chloe, Ava and Lauren were all receiving treatment for cancer. Fast forward three years and all four girls are now in remission, having become best friends.

During their grueling treatment the youngsters relied on each other for support and friendship, and this week the brave foursome reunited at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida for a photo.

In fact, the little girls, all between the ages of four and five, take a photo each year in the lobby the hospital - but this is the first time they have all been in remission.

"They were all on active treatment the first time we did this," Ava's mum, Alyssa Luciano, told FOX13 in St. Petersburg. "It's amazing to see how far they've come from being bald little babies."

McKinley, Ava and Lauren all had acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and Chloe had a rare form of lung cancer. McKinley said they all bonded 'because our blood was sick'.

Lauren's mum, Shawna Glynn, said the girls formed their friendship when they were at Johns Hopkins because of their bald heads.

Shawna said: "She's three years old and doesn't have any hair, but all of her friends in the hospital look the same way so it kind of gave her some normalcy."

McKinley's mum, Karen Moore, added: "It was just always a breath of fresh air to see a familiar face and to know that she wasn't alone in this."

It wasn't just the girls who were there for each other, but their mums also relied on each other to make it through treatment.

Karen said: "Just having other moms to relate to has been phenomenal. Just to have other people going through it at the same time as us."

Little Lauren was the last to complete treatment - her final appointment was earlier this month.

Lauren's mum Shawna said: "We're done. She just rang the bell to signify that she has completed her treatment... She's going into kindergarten on Monday.

"They have just come so far, all of them."

I'M NOT CRYING, YOU'RE CRYING.

It's times like these and inspirational youngsters like this that make you realise there are some amazing heroes in this world, and they don't all wear capes - some wear tutus.
