Bernard Kenny, who risked his life to try to save another.

Bernard Kenny is a legend, who risked his life attempting to save MP Jo Cox from the actions of Thomas Mair last Thursday. In her constituency in Birstall, Mair walked up and shot her three times, stabbed her repeatedly and kicked her while she was on the floor. Kenny bravely confronted Mair and tried to stop him.

But Kenny's not the only hero from all this. Once stabbed, Colin Frith, a qualified first-aider, came to his rescue to quell the bleeding and saved his life.

77-year-old pensioner Kenny was stabbed with a 10-inch knife when he tried to intervene to stop the monstrous act on MP Cox.

It's materialised that Kenny used to be a hero for a living. He formerly worked as a mine rescue worker, including working on the team trying to save seven men trapped in 1977 at the Lofthouse Colliery.

As reported on The Mail Online, once Kenny had been stabbed he blew a kiss to his mortified wife, Doreen, saying "I'm alright." But he was far from alright - he was bleeding profusely.

Frith found Kenny slumped in a café, blood pouring from him. The dance teacher explained the scenario and expressed the fact that he thought Kenny may die. He told The Mail Online: "It was a crazy scenario. There was blood pouring from his wound and at one point I feared he was going to die." At that stage, he didn't really know what had happened as he rushed for his first aid kit.

He continued: "A number of people were around him and two girls were telling him to keep holding the wound. I ran back to my workplace to get my first aid kit.

"Back at the café I lifted up the man's shirt and could see it was a stab wound. I put any bandages I could grab as quickly around the wound which was between his rib cage and diaphragm area."

Frith explained that he believes Kenny is a "true hero" and we all agree. But you too, Colin, are a hero. And the pair of you did incredible deeds. Well done to the two ladies who helped him, too.

A petition has been made to get Kenny the George Cross. Sign it, and let's get this legend the recognition he deserves, risking his life trying to help someone else.

And Frith needs some formal recognition too.

You are unsung heroes.
