520ft Megayacht Designed With Four Sails And Eight Decks

Plans for an incredible 520ft, eight-deck superyacht have been shared.

The concept design for the ship - named The Galleon - shows an impressive list of features, including full-sized basketball and tennis courts, swimming pools and even somewhere to store your helicopter. All the essentials covered, really.

The boat's design features four large sails and is inspired by ships that roamed the oceans during the Age of Exploration.

But as well as looking as fancy as you like, The Galleon would also be an impressive feat of engineering, with designers saying its 10,000 horsepower engines would be able to take it up to 18 knots, around 20mph, despite being 520ft long and having a displacement tonnage of almost 22,000.

The ship can comfortably accommodate up to 200 guests as well as 150 crew members - and to keep them all occupied there's plenty on offer, including a pub, restaurant and even a waterslide.

There's also a 4,500 square-foot hangar with room for 10 helicopters.

The Galleon has been designed by Steve Kozloff, who says it is an 'explorer yacht' which would be capable of cruising around the world in luxury. Well, you can say that again.

A description for the design reads: "Kozloff has outdone himself in his most recent creation.

"The expansive 160-metre, eight-deck Galleon has the ability and flexibility to be a sailing cruise ship for up to 200 guests, a sailing vessel with up to 20 private residences, or a large sailing yacht for one owner."

It goes on: "On the upper aft deck is a lounging area, full luxury bar, and a 74' by 32' pool. One level below the bridge deck is a 44.5' by 35' indoor pool.

"Both pools include the Kozloff invention of an automated hard cover that becomes a gazebo when the pools are in use. When not in use the hard covers seal the pool; therefore, no need to drain in rough conditions. On the upper forward decks are two lazy river pools connected by a waterslide.

"Galleon features an indoor sports centre with a full-sized basketball court, tennis court and four handball courts.

"The many open common areas in the hull can include amenities such as a park, café, pub, restaurant and more."

As yet, it's simply a concept, so you can't get your hands on one. But if you were keen, Kozloff recently told the New York Post it would cost roughly $750 million (£531m) to get one 'properly outfitted, adding that the masts alone cost $140m (£99m).
