Couple Claim That They've Eaten Nothing But Fruit For Three Years

A couple who claim that they have only eaten fruit for three years say that it makes them "feel high" and that they no longer need to brush their teeth.

Given the amount of sugar in fruit, that might be a slightly fanciful idea. Probably best not to chuck out the toothbrush just yet.

Tina Stoklosa, from Warsaw, Poland, says that she started this whole madness because she wanted to detox ahead of the Christmas period back in 2013.

Tina and her boyfriend Simon Beun have not touched anything but fruit for a whole three years, so they say.

It hasn't been plain sailing, however. 39-year-old Stoklosa says that she suffered at first because of her love of eating out. Since then, she has moved to Bali - where they have a better variety of fruit - met 26-year-old Simon and gone fully "fruitarian".

Well, they've gone full fruit-something, that's for sure. Loop? Cake? You be the judge.

It's had an effect on her waistline, to say the least. She says that she has lost 5 stones and now weighs only 8 stone 11lbs. As mentioned before, they've also chucked in brushing their teeth, because the fibre in the fruit apparently does that for them.

Hmm.

They actually eat about the same number of calories as a normal diet - between 2,000 and 4,000 - including up to 30 bananas per day. They drink only water and coconut milk.

Tina said: "I have been overweight most on my adult life. Engaged in cycles of binge eating and dieting in turn only growing bigger and feeling more helpless with each year.

"Whilst researching a green smoothie recipe for the first time - I found a girl online that only ate fruit, and then I found a whole group of people online eating this way and calling themselves fruitarians.

"The vast majority of them looked incredibly healthy and had so much energy they chose to be endurance athletes. I was intrigued and decided to do a week-long pre-Christmas weight loss cleanse on just fruit.

"I felt amazing that week - light, optimistic, even high, I was walking 30cm above the ground - it felt like I was in love with everything. This diet was worth it even just for the mental gain."

She continued: "I decided to never go back to 'normal' food. Easier said than done, first two-years I caved into cooked food hundreds of times

"With little to no exercise I am able to eat as much as my boyfriend - a twenty-six-year-old male - and not gain any weight. Perks of the fruitarian lifestyle? Certainly. Weight maintenance is just so easy on fruit."

The couple claim that the diet cures depression, chronic illness, and cancer.

OK, fruit is definitely good for you, but I'd still take the doctor's advice over 30 bananas on all of those issues.
