A relationship expert has shared the seven questions you should ask on a first date to really get to know the person.

While first dates can be a bit daunting, James Thomas, from condoms.uk, has got a set of questions that he says will keep things flowing and allow you to garner some insight into the person you're with.

Speaking to The Mirror, James laid out the seven questions - kicking off with: "What's your favourite way to relax?"

The dating expert believes this is a handy alternative to asking people about their hobbies and it could be a good way to find out if you have any mutual interests.

Next up, James reckons you should ask: "What was the last show you binge-watched?"

Again, this is a good opportunity to find out more about what your date is into and whether you have anything in common.

Question number three, according to James, is: "What is something you want to learn?"

The expert explained: "This question will challenge their ambitions," adding: "It allows you to see if their interests match with yours alongside their current priorities."

The fourth question is: "Do you have a signature dish you love to cook?"

Obviously asking this will let you know if your date enjoys spending time in the kitchen - but if they don't, all is not lost as James says you can then suggest learning to cook something together as a future date idea.

The fifth question gets a bit heavy, with James suggesting you ask: "If the world was ending tomorrow, what would you do?"

For me, I'd probably spend it crying, but James thinks this question could lead to some interesting answers and will help give you an insight into their personality. Not quite sure what my response says about me.

Question number six is: "What is the best thing that has happened to you this week?"

James thinks this is a good 'ice breaker' but given that it's the sixth question, you'd hope the ice was already fairly smashed by now.

James says this question also allows you to gage if the person appreciates the smaller things in life.

Last up, we've got question number seven, and by this point your date might feel a bit like they're on University Challenge.

Still, don't let that put you off as you ask: "What is the weirdest thing you've bought on Amazon?"

James believes this fun question will help keep the conversation flowing, and gives you and your date a chance to share a fun story.

So there you go - now get yourself on Tinder and find someone to ask these questions.
