LADbible's Most Read Stories Of 2018

From The Rock to romps in Tesco and quite possibly God. This was your 2018...

You might be forgiven for thinking that all anyone talked about in 2018 was Brexit, vegans and Cardi B, and depressingly, you'd almost be right.

But there was plenty going on in the big bad world and here at LADbible, we tried to bring you a decent selection of things designed make you laugh, cry and swear loudly at your phone. Sometimes all at once.

First up, thanks for reading, swiping, liking, commenting and generally getting involved this year. It's been emotional.

We've managed to build a fairly chunky audience - nearly 35 million of you on Facebook - and we'll keep trying to show you cool/interesting/downright odd stuff into 2019.

But what were the most read stories of 2018? Well, it's funny you should ask...in reverse order, the top ten were:

10: Remember that enormous glowing orb that lived in the sky for about three weeks in the middle of the year? That was called the sun, and it made us all so hot that we complained about it until it went away, leaving us with drizzle, snowbombs, Storm Deidre and the rest of the schizophrenic shitpile that is British weather.

The misery was further compounded when someone decided to tell us that sleeping with the fan on in your bedroom was actually bad for you. Worse then suffocating or sweating to death?

9: Everyone gets the occasional moment of down time at work. It's how you choose to spend it that counts. This guy decided to document all of his farts at work. Then he lost his job, for that very reason. There's probably a moral in there somewhere, but I've got no idea what it is.

8: There are people you don't expect to be a natural rapper. Mary Halsey, a nursing home worker from Le Roy, New York, is one of those people. But when Mary decided to drop a cover of Missy Elliot's Work It at a family barbecue, the footage went viral. Then Missy herself picked it up - and it's fair to say she was impressed, branding Mary her 'funky white sister.'

7: The Rock, AKA Dwayne Johnson is A Nice Man. When he's not ripping the shit out of Kevin Hart or posting snippets of his punishing workout routines on Instagram, he often takes time out to spread a bit of kindness - and one particular example stood out.

The Rock surprised his stunt double with a brand new car - which reduced his tough guy co-star to tears.

6: There are certain times it's OK to take a selfie. On a night out. Up a mountain. Or, if you are a girl under the age of 23, in your bathroom EVERY TIME YOU GET CHANGED before a night out.

However, sometimes it's just not ok - and this guardsman at Windsor Castle was having none of it when a tourist tried to get in his way to get that Insta moment. It was a pretty brutal shove as well. Put that on a postcard.

5: Telling your mate some big life news is always a special moment, but when Josh Peck told Drake Bell he was going to be a dad, it hit you all right in the feels.

"What's going on, man?" Bell asks. Peck, not missing a beat, says smugly: "Just having a baby." Bell replies: "Dude, this is so wild."

4: There's a saying that goes: "If you can't take it, don't dish it out." A phrase which will no doubt be etched forever in the mind of this young lad - whose prank on his barber came back to haunt him in spectacular fashion.

It involves a lot of fake blood, a latex ear and some pretty good acting skills - enjoy.

3: Another example of things you probably shouldn't do at work coming back to bite you on your (exposed) arse, as one of the workers who got caught getting fresh in the office of their local Tesco spoke out.

"It just seemed to happen out of nowhere," said 19-year-old Caitlin Kirby. "He made the first move, I went along with it and it just spiralled out of control. The whole world has seen what happened next."

Yes they did. Sorry about that. A bit.

2: This touching video of a young LAD with Down's syndrome reacting to his older brother's new tattoo went viral - and rightly so. It captures an incredibly tender moment as one brother reveals his new ink - his sibling's head inside a roaring lion's mouth. I'm not crying you're crying.

1: Tell the philosophers, the spiritual leaders, the atheists - we've got some new evidence up for consideration. It looks like there's a man living in the clouds, and some are saying it's 'God'.

Well, that's what Tuscaloosa, Alabama resident Solo Dolo says, along with many of the million plus viewers of the video she uploaded to Facebook. It appears to show a mysterious figure 'walking' across a bright patch of sky during a storm. What do you think?

So there you have it - that was 2018. What will 2019 bring? The mind boggles...
