A man was captured on camera sacrificing his own car in order to save the life of a person who had fallen unconscious at the wheel of their vehicle. You can check out the amazing - and pretty terrifying - video below.

The incident, which happened in The Netherlands, started when a car looked to be making a fairly routine, if a little tight, exit from the motorway before veering wildly off course and starting off through a grassy area next to the road.

As it would turn out, the driver of the vehicle had lost consciousness, and the car was moving at speed and out of control.

The car eventually veered off enough to re-join the road, which meant that other road users were back in danger once again, as well as the female driver of the free-wheeling car.

The car was clearly out of control.

Recognising the danger, a man called Henry Temmermans sped up a little bit and got in front of the car before braking enough to bring it to a halt.

His brave actions were all captured on the dashboard camera of someone driving behind, to the point where the car filming stopped and pulled over behind the two as Temmermans got out of his car to run around to the woman was OK and check that the car would remain stopped.

The accident occurred on the A28 road in Nunspeet on Friday afternoon, and - as you can no doubt tell from the footage - could have resulted in a much less positive outcome.

Speaking to De Stentor after his heroics, Mr Temmermans said: "The car was swinging. I saw that in the corner of my eye.

"[It] drove across the grass, at first I thought the motorist had missed an exit. But I soon saw that that was not the case because the car was driving straight ahead."

Henry got ahead of it and forced the car to stop.

"I could see from my window that the car was uncontrollable because the woman was leaning over the wheel.

"That was awful to see. In order not to endanger the woman and other motorists, I accelerated a little more to get in front of her and stop my car in front of her. Luckily it wasn't a big blow."

Once he arrived at the car, he saw that the woman had vomited and immediately called the police, who arrived and towed his car away from the scene, once the woman had received the help she needed.

The woman is now doing OK, he said.

"I got her contact details from the police," the hero explained.

Then, he rushed to check on the driver.

"I visited her in Harderwijk on Sunday morning with my wife.

"Yes, she's broken ribs and it's painful, but she's so grateful that I did what I did. That she came out unscathed.

"It was almost self-evident for me, but I also understand that my action appeals to the imagination."

As for his car, Henry said: "It is a company car, it will be repaired again. I haven't thought about the consequences of the collision at all. If you see someone in need, you have to help. It's that simple. And luckily it ended well in the end."

LADbible has contacted police in The Netherlands for a statement.
