This Island Is Cheaper To Live On Than A House In England

Paradise.

London is a great place, there's no argument about that. Where else can you queue up for an ice cream behind Mischa Barton and pass Russell Brand riding a bicycle?

Los Angeles?

Point noted, but you sure as hell can't do it in Hull. However, you can afford to live in Hull. London is a fabulous place to visit but unless you're earning upwards of 30K it's a fairly depressing place to be stuck in.

It's a sad truth but fear not you can live on this dreamy island for less money than you can buy a house in London.

I mean, it's still not cheap, according to The Independent it will cost you just over £150,000.

"Letting agent Ray White Southern Tasmania just added Huon Island to its books - and it's yours for a mere $300,000 Australian dollars, which works out to £163,149.

"Located off the coast of Tasmania, the slice of paradise is accessible via a 10-minute boat trip," they wrote.

You'd be sharing the 1.5 hectare piece of land with three other families, but that sounds like a large enough space for you to never have to actually meet them, because no-one enjoys idle small talk with their neighbours.

Listing agent Simon Purdon told The Independent: "It's so peaceful - when you're there, you feel like it's your own part of the world, secluded and quiet."

Still, it says a lot about the ludicrous hosing prices in the capital, that it's cheaper to invest in a slice of paradise than a two bedroom terraced house in Kensington.
