Katie Price Given Suspended Prison Sentence For Drink Driving

Katie Price pleaded guilty to drink driving in September

Katie Price has been given a suspended prison sentence for drink driving.

The 43-year-old appeared today (15 December) at Crawley Magistrates’ Court after she was arrested and charged in September for drink-driving, following a single-vehicle collision.

According to the prosecution, Price had an alcohol level from a breath test of 66mg - the limit is 35mg, Sussex Live reported.

She had also consumed cocaine, vodka and lemonade prior to the incident.

District Judge Kelly has sentenced the 43-year-old a 16 weeks prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, alongside 100 hours of unpaid work in community.

Her driving ban has been kept to two years and she will not have to take an extended driving test.

There will be also be no separate penalty for the charge of driving without insurance.

The prosecution added: "There is no evidence Katie Price has been anything but co-operative," when referencing the ongoing proceedings.

The collision took place near her Sussex home, on the B2135, near Partridge Green.

District Judge Kelly said: "When you chose to get behind the wheel that night you showed no concern for others. You could have killed somebody.

"Your actions meant the emergency services had to use up their precious time. You knowingly and deliberately flouted a court order and not for the first time.

"You seem to think you are above the law."

A day after the crash, Price plead guilty to drink driving and being disqualified without a licence.

According to Metro, she reportedly told police: "I took drugs, I should not be driving, I admit it all."

After the incident, Price told the court: "I got in my car. Had a collision.

"I regret it. I’ve upset people around me, and I have upset myself.

"I could have been hurt, I could have been dead.

"I could have killed someone, or I could have injured someone."

Chair of the bench at Crawley Magistrate’s Court, Julie Hutton, told Price in September: "We regularly send people to prison for driving whilst disqualified."

A statement from Sussex Police read: "Police responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision on the B2135 near Partridge Green around 6.20am on Tuesday (September 28).

"A woman, 43, was arrested on suspicion of driving while above the legal limit for alcohol and drugs, and has been taken to hospital to be checked over.

"The road was blocked temporarily while recovery of the vehicle was arranged.’

The former model's family also released a statement after the incident.

It read: "As a family we have for some time been concerned about Kate’s wellbeing and overall mental health. Today our worst fears nearly came true.

"As a family we have been and will continue to help Kate get the help she needs.

"We hope that she will realise that she cannot battle her issues alone.

"We would kindly ask that the media and wider public give Kate the time and space she needs to seek the necessary treatment, so she can hopefully return to the Kate we know and love as a mother, daughter and sister."
