A cyclist in Australia has used his bicycle to recreate Nirvana's Nevermind album cover on the streets of Adelaide.

Pete Stokes wanted to honour the legendary band and celebrate the record's 30th anniversary.

So, he hopped on his trusty bike for a 150km ride that managed to draw the iconic image of a baby in the pool.

He even managed to include the dollar bill on the fishing line and create an angry look on the baby's face.

The 45-year-old said the whole project took him eight hours with a few pitstops at cafes.

"It's whatever takes my fancy at the time. Nirvana has its place in my record collection," he told Guardian Australia.

"When this album came out I was in high school - I was about 14, and that's when you're forming your love of music."

He explained to the ABC that it was only when he realised the massive milestone was coming up that he decided to turn the cover into some GPS art.

"Earlier in the year [I was] going through my old record collection and going, 'Oh my God, that album's 30 years old this year', and just thinking, 'You know what, that deserves its own little piece'," he said.

"The face was really difficult... but it's good enough. We've got so much green space, so many parks which, from my point of view for doing this, are great to be able to cut through and take shortcuts."

While Pete was super stoked to recreate the album cover with his bike, the baby at the centre of the unmistakable image was keen to have the cover updated.

Spencer Elden, who appeared on the cover as a naked baby in a swimming pool, has already sued the record label over the use of his likeness, reportedly asked that Universal leave his penis out of all future reissues and releases of the album.

Despite the lawsuit, Nirvana still paid tribute to Nevermind on the 30th anniversary of the album (24 September) and posted the uncensored cover to Facebook.

Earlier in the year, Elden sued the band, Kurt Cobain's estate and the record company because he alleged they had profited from 'child pornography'.

He said that Universal 'intentionally commercially marketed Spencer's child pornography and leveraged the shocking nature of his image to promote themselves and their music at his expense' and caused him 'lifelong damages'.

Elden added he was bringing the action now because he 'finally has the courage to hold these actors accountable'.
