An Australian influencer said she cried 'happy tears' because she was so proud of herself for being able to mow her own lawn.

While keeping your backyard clean and presentable is a chore often loathed by some people, it appears Olivia Mathers was stoked when she got hers looking amazing.

The Gold Coast social media star explained to her more than half a million followers that accomplishing this seemingly simple task was a big deal to her.

In an Instagram story, Mathers said: "I've had tears through this process. Happy tears, because I am just so f**king proud of myself.

"It's so easy to be faced with an unknown/new situation and say, 'I can't'.

"My advice and something I am only just learning is, give yourself more credit and challenge yourself to create results you want in life, in every aspect.

"It's damn f**king empowering."

Olivia also thanked her mum for 'setting the absolute best example of someone who doesn't give up and continues to defy all odds'.

It appears her backyard is quite the passion project for the Queenslander as she has a whole story section dedicated to weeding, trimming, mowing and landscaping her garden.

Look, it's really lovely that someone got such a kick out of mowing the lawn, however others didn't really see it that way.

The Instagram Story was posted on Celeb Spellcheck, who essentially told the influencer that she did nothing special.

Loads of comments agreed with the 'You mowed the lawn' caption and roasted her for trying to brag about doing a simple chore.

One person said: "I thought from reading that caption that she bought a house which is no easy feat to do but yeah good for her for mowing the lawn."

However, there were others who quickly defended the influencer from the barrage of comments, saying her multi-day effort shouldn't be laughed at.

Fellow social media star Georgia Grace wrote: "She's obviously going through a hard time at the moment and is proud of herself for getting up and doing something she hasn't had to do by herself before.

"If she wants to celebrate that achievement, she has every right to. It's so sad to see that some people will never have empathy or respect for anyone."

Olivia shared the Grace's story and added: "I was sadden (sic) to see my vulnerable moment of gratitude be so quickly turned into a laugh."
