Aussies Are Mocking British People Complaining About 30C Degree Heatwave

"What counts as a heatwave in UK is barely swimming weather in Australia."

The UK is undergoing a pretty horrendous heatwave at the moment, with some parts seeing the highest temperatures ever recorded.

The mercury has been pushed into the 30s for several days and people are suffering.

But it's prompted an interesting reaction from Australians who are raising an eyebrow about why people are complaining about that kind of temperature.

It's no secret that Australian summers can see heatwaves push temps into the mid-40s and that's when things can get seriously messed up.

As a result, Aussies are giving no sympathy to their British mates who are sweltering through high-20s and low-30s.

But a Brit has hit back at the comments, which have also come from American residents mocking the UK for complaining about the heat.

TikToker @imeyrick was not happy with the insinuation that Brits were 'taking the p***' and shared a lengthy explanation as to why the heat here in the UK feels very different to the US.

In the clip, the 27-year-old explains: "Point number one, we don't have air conditioning, anywhere.

"Apart from, like, retail outlets. Some places will have it. But most homes do not have air conditioning. They're not built with air conditioning, the best we can have is portable stuff.

"Point number two, is that our buildings are insulated to hell. Because we typically have mild summers and cold winters. So our buildings are designed to hold the heat to save energy costs.

"And point number three, your body will adjust to the climate that you live in.

"We don't get that much hot weather, it lasts for about two to three weeks. Our bodies don't have time to adjust, therefore our bodies literally cannot handle the heat."

To be fair, whenever the temperature gets below 10C degrees in Australia everyone won't stop complaining. You could almost get away with wearing a t-shirt in that same temperature in the UK.

Horses for courses.
