The humble meat pie is revered as one of the best culinary delights in Australia, and for good reason.

Over the years, bakeries have tinkered with their recipes and some now boast a variety of delicious meats and ingredients to make one hell of a bougie pie.

But if you wanted to up the ante a bit without getting pretentious, we have the pie for you.

Banjos Bakery, which has locations in Tasmania, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia, has unveiled a combination to die for. Introducing the cheeseburger pie.

Yep - you read that correctly. The good people at Banjos have mashed together two beautiful food items into one ultimate meal.

The pie contains several layers of Australian beef and melted cheese, with tomato sauce, mustard, pickles and onions, all encased in shortcrust pastry. Can you imagine anything more delicious?

Banjos has revealed this won't be a permanent addition to the menu and has promised it is here 'for a good time not a long time'.

One person reacting to the news on Facebook wrote: "Don't take them away."

A Melburnian added: "Can these be snap frozen and express posted to me?Unfortunately I live much further than 5kms away."

Banjos says there are some stores that are on Uber Eats if people are really hankering for one of their pies to be delivered. We'll have to wait and see what this is like in real life, but it sounds goddamn delicious.
