Police in New South Wales have busted an alleged baby formula syndicate operating out of Sydney.

Detectives have seized 1,350 tins of the formula during a raid on several properties across the city and two men have been arrested.

Cops received a tip-off that there was a syndicate that was targeting the highly prized powder and detectives from Auburn Police Area Command launched an investigation.

After doing some digging, authorities arrested a 53-year-old man at a shopping centre carpark on Queen Street, Auburn.

They then swooped on a home in Greystanes, where they allegedly found 350 tins of stolen baby formula, 42 bottles of vitamins and 47 tubs of menthol rub.

NSW Police released a statement, saying: "About 2pm, a second search warrant was executed at a storage facility on Parramatta Road, Homebush, where detectives arrested a 40-year-old man and seized a further 1000 tins of baby formula, 1000 bottles of vitamins, 300 tubs of pawpaw cream and 100 electric toothbrushes - also believed to be stolen.

"Items seized at both locations are believed to be worth an estimated $100,000. About 5pm, a third search warrant was executed at an apartment on Gibbons Street, Auburn, where police seized clothing."

Police believe the 53-year-old was facilitating the theft of baby formula and pharmaceutical items. He's since been charged with shoplifting.

The 40-year-old man has been charged with deal with property proceeds of crime, and receive property-theft - serious indictable offence. Police say he was getting stolen goods and was exporting them overseas.

Both men were granted conditional bail to appear in Burwood Local Court on November 12.
