A body has been found in the area where police are searching for Gabby Petito.

Authorities haven't confirmed whether the body belongs to the missing 22-year-old.

The FBI said the body was 'consistent' with the description for Petito, however stressed they will have more answers when DNA tests come back.

Fox News reports Teton County Coroner Brent Blue has arrived in the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming to assess the recently discovered body.

The 22-year-old and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, had been driving around national parks in the US in their van, all the while documenting their trip on social media.

They are now both missing.

Gabby's family hadn't heard from her since 25 August, and they subsequently reported her missing on 11 September.

The 22-year-old was last seen leaving a hotel with Brian Laundrie in Salt Lake City on August 24.

Laundrie returned with the van to North Port, Florida - where they had been living prior to setting off on their journey - but police said his family wouldn't let officers speak to him.

The family have now said they don't know where he is.

In a statement, North Port Police said: "The North Port Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations are currently searching for 23-yr-old Brian Laundrie of North Port.

"The attorney for the Laundrie family called FBI investigators Friday night indicating the family would like to talk about the disappearance of their son.

"The family now claims that they have not seen Brian since Tuesday of this week."

The statement went on to emphasise that the department is now working on two missing persons investigations, rather than a criminal investigation.
