Drug smugglers have been using every trick in the book (and then some) to get their products passed border officials.

But one trafficker in particular has tried to use a very niche method of getting ketamine to their intended buyer.

Philadelphia Customs and Border Protection found a whopping 16.4kgs of the white powdery substance hidden inside framed photographs of Disney star Hilary Duff.

Ironically, the pictures of the actor and singer were from her 2005 album called Most Wanted.

The parcels arrived in the city from The Netherlands and were destined for a house in Hartford County in Connecticut. However, the joint efforts of the Chicago and Philadelphia CBP officers meant that the drugs never reached their target.

The drug was discovered in the plastic backing of the frames and authorities said they arrived in separate shipments via air delivery at Philadelphia International Airport. There were six frames in each shipment.

The frames and drugs were handed over to Homeland Security Investigations so that the investigation could continue. A man in Connecticut has been arrested.

Director of Field Operations for the CBP Baltimore Field Office, Casey Durst, said: "Secreting dangerous drugs within picture frames is not a new concealment method; however, Customs and Border Protection officers must still effort to detect and intercept it.

"CBP officers across the country often partner during illicit narcotics interceptions because we are all singularly focused on one very important mission - protecting our nation's citizens from dangerous drugs."

According to the USA's Drugs Enforcement Agency, ketamine is classed as a Schedule III non-narcotic under the Controlled Substances Act.

You'd imagine this is probably the first time the CBP has discovered a haul of psychoactive drugs hidden away in photographs of someone who used to be on The Disney Channel.
