A table has been designed in Japan to specifically cater to cat owners who never want their feline friend out of their sight.

If you have a pet, then you know meal time is when they will come up next to you and beg for scraps.

Whether it's a cheeky tomato or the fatty strip from your steak, there's no doubt that your dog, cat or other pet will enjoy getting to eat your leftovers.

They also will probably like the attention they get when their human diverts their gaze from the conversation to give them a pat.

However, if you want to maintain eyes on your cat at all times then you can buy Dinos' cat-friendly table that has a little insert in the centre.

Built with 'natural oak', the table features a small hole in the middle and a tray underneath, where your cat can jump onto and poke its adorable head out the top.

The company says people will be 'healed' by seeing their feline furbaby as the centre of attention at meal times and no doubt the cat would also lap up the focus.

The table comes in two colours, natural and dark brown, and will set you back ¥159,500 including tax (which is nearly AUD$2,000); so it's a hefty purchase.

But can you really put a price on the adorable moment of seeing your cat randomly join your family dinner? Yes, you can and it looks like it's around two grand.

Dinos writes on its website: "Even if you like cats and don't use them, they have a satisfactory quality as furniture for people to use.

"There is a hole with a diameter of 16 cm in the centre of the dining table, so cats can play with their faces.

"If you don't want the cat to appear, you can use it as a normal table by covering it with a special lid. When not used by cats, the shelves can be used as a space for magazines and newspapers."

They also sell cushions that are specifically designed to be housed on the little shelf below the table.
