Conservative Group Says Australian Census Is Too 'Woke' And Is Trying To 'Cancel' Religion

Campaigners are concerned the census will end up portraying Australia as a secular country.

The conservative group FamilyVoice has bizarrely claimed the upcoming Australian census is too 'woke'.

The Christian-based organisation is concerned about the way the survey tackles the religion question and has accused organisers of the census of 'cancel culture'.

FamilyVoice has taken issue with the 'No Religion' option being at the top and believe that will encourage people to select it.

They fear this is being done purposefully to cement Australia as a 'secular nation', despite the last census seeing 52 per cent of citizens tick the Christian box.

The group is also furious at Question Number 23 being optional, which they believe could give an inaccurate snapshot at the religious make up of Australia.

FamilVoice has released a media statement saying the 2021 census has been hijacked by woke leftists and those hellbent on cancel culture who have encouraged the census to look at other aspects of Australia.

Since the last survey in 2016, there was a massive push for gender diversity and sexuality to be included as a question.

According to the ABC, there were more than 450 submissions on what the survey could ask Australians in 2021, and they ranged from topics about sexuality, health, education and family. Eventually there were eight that were shortlisted.

Out of the eight, the decision was made to include two new questions to help give a more accurate look at the people living in the country.

People will be able to tick yes or no to whether they have any past or current Australian Defence Force service, and whether they have any long-term health conditions.

While the push for higher visibility for gender and sexuality diverse Australians was welcomed by federal politicians, it was slammed by FamilyVoice.

They argued there would only be a 'miniscule' impact of having that information from the census and they believe religion is far more important.

FamilyVoice's Greg Bondar said the 2021 census is a 'flawed document' that is trying to undermine and de-Christianise Australia.

They reckon the people behind the survey are trying to push a 'leftist, woke, cancel culture and secular ideology'.

The Australian census will be issued this month and it will be mandatory for all citizens to fill it out.

The information gleaned from the data helps politicians make vital policy decisions based on what the population does and doesn't align with.
