Police have arrested an American man on suspicion he carried out the brutal murder of his two young children.
Matthew Taylor Coleman was taken into custody after crossing the US-Mexico border earlier this week.
His wife called police and filed a missing persons report when the 40-year-old didn't answer her messages over the weekend.

According to The Guardian, the surf school instructor confessed to federal authorities in the US that he used a 'spear fishing gun' to kill his children, aged 10 months and two years.
Their bodies were allegedly dumped at a ranch in Mexico and were discovered by a farmhand.
Coleman has since been charged with foreign murder of U.S. nationals and will likely be extradited to Mexico to face court, according to News Corp.

An affidavit submitted to the FBI has revealed the motivations behind the alleged twin murders.
Coleman was reportedly 'enlightened by QAnon and Illuminati conspiracy theories' and genuinely believed 'his children were going to grow into monsters so he had to kill them'.
When he was interviewed shortly after crossing back into the US, he told investigators 'he was receiving visions and signs revealing that his wife possessed serpent DNA and had passed it on to his children'.
While the exact details have been revealed, ABC News suggests he 'serpent blood' idea is linked to the QAnon idea that 'lizard people...secretly run the world and have taken over important positions in government, banking and Hollywood'.

According to the affidavit, Coleman explained that he knew what he was doing was wrong, however, 'it was the only course of action to save the world'.
Coleman's wife said she and her husband hadn't had any issues in their relationship or family life prior to the children's death.
She added that they didn't have an argument before Coleman left with the kids, but simply took them without saying where he was going.

Police were able to track the father's movements thanks to the Find My iPhone technology, which had tracked him travelling from Rosarito, Mexico, towards the US border near San Diego.
The 40-year-old reportedly gave authorities the location of the murder weapon as well as their discarded clothing.
He's also identified two bodies found by Mexican investigators and confirmed they were his children.
A judge has ordered Coleman to be held without bond and has scheduled his arraignment for the end of the month.
