Darwin's Cage Of Death Let's You Get Face To Face With A Crocodile

You get to spend 15 minutes face to face with one of the most feared creatures on the planet.

There's an attraction in Australia's Northern Territory that is equal parts jaw dropping and terrifying.

While most people would have seen crocodiles and thought 'I'm staying the hell way from them', Darwin's Cage of Death lets you get up close and personal with them.

Crocosaurus Cove has some absolutely monster crocs in both size and weight, with one measuring more than five and a half metres and another tipping the scales at a hefty 800 kilograms.

Their attraction offers you the chance to hop into a clear perspex box that gets lowered into one of the crocodile's tanks, where you spend 15 minutes eyeing off with a living dinosaur.

People brave enough to take on the challenge are given goggles so they can essentially dive with one of the most fearsome creatures on the planet as it swims around you.

But if that isn't enough hair-raising adrenaline for your body, the staff at Crocosaurus Cove will then feed the croc right next to you.

Staring into a crocodile's eye is one thing, but seeing its jaws open wide and munch down hard on a piece of meat closer than your outstretched arm is something else.

Participants get told as they're lowered into the water that the crocodile will likely circle the tank for a few minutes because it thinks it's stalking you. That's a fun thought to have.

According to the Crocosaurus Cove, visitors will be able to 'take in his intimidating gaze, feel the sheer power of his 3 tonne bite force, and learn to appreciate his true strength and resilience as a modern-day dinosaur'.

It's the only place in Australia that offers this sort of thing and the team at the Cove make sure you are completely safe during the 15 minutes.

It will set you back $175 for one person and $270 for two people at once, which is a bit hefty, however, judging from the reviews, it seems to be very worth it.

One person said: "Oh my! We did the Cage of Death, and it was AWESOME! This was a bucket list must. To see these prehistoric creatures up close was something I will never forget! We enjoyed the croc and reptile exhibits, and the staff try to make your visit special and memorable."

Another added: "Wow, what a great place. I have been to these kinds of places before, so I thought it would all be the same type of thing. Was I wrong, it was great. We all loved it, the crocodile dive is a must do. Definitely worth the $175 for a 15 min swim. Might do it again before I leave Darwin."

So, if you're looking for something that will give your heart a kick then definitely look into it.
