A Sydney man has two reasons to be devastated this week after he will be forced to go to court following his luxury Mercedes bursting into flames as he allegedly attempted to do a burnout.

Emergency services were called to Chester Hill just after midday on Sunday after the man's Mercedes Benz AMG C63S coupe ignited, reportedly while outside a wedding.

Despite telling officers from Bankstown Police Area Command that the vehicle had caught fire while being driven down the road, it was later discovered that the 25-year-old driver and owner had been attempting a burnout.

Sadly for the young driver, the entire escapade was caught on camera and shared on social media.

A video captured from inside the car shows the driver revving the engine before it begins to smoke, forcing the car's three occupants to make a hasty exit.

Video from a spectator outside the car also captured the wild moment, with the man filming heard screaming 'Get out! Get out!' as the car begins to smoke and later erupts in flames.

Despite efforts by firefighters who arrived on the scene, the car was destroyed and the surrounding road damaged by the incident.

NSW Police said the vehicle was worth more than $100,000.

As if the loss of a hugely expensive car wasn't bad enough, the man will also face court after he was issued with a Future Court Attendance Notice for drive manner dangerous and negligent driving.

He is due to appear in Bankstown Local Court on March 11.
