Two Gold Star fathers have ripped into Joe Biden for appearing to check his watch as the bodies of 13 US troops were unloaded from a military aircraft.
The soldiers were killed in twin suicide bomb attacks in Kabul, with Islamic State-K taking responsibility for targeting an area close to where thousands of people had gathered at the international airport.
The US President was joined by the First Lady and other dignitaries who solemnly watched as the coffins were slowly brought off the plane at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware.
Mark Schmitz, the father of Lance Corporal Jared Schmitz, and Darin Hoover, the father of Staff Sergeant Darin Taylor Hoover, were interviewed by Fox News and they didn't mince their words when discussing the President's alleged watch checking.
Mr Hoover told the host: "In reference to the checking of his watch, that didn't happen just once. That happened on every single one that came out of that airplane. It happened on every single one of them.
"They'd release the salute, and he'd look down at his watch - on all 13 he'd look down at his watch."
He added that he was invited to meet with Mr Biden after the ceremony, however he declined and said he didn't want to be anywhere near the President.
Mr Schmitz said: "I actually leaned into my son's mother's ear, and I said, 'I swear to God, if he checks his watch one more time,' and that was probably only four times in.
"I couldn't look at him anymore after that, just especially considering the time and why we were there. It was, I found to be, the most disrespectful thing I've ever seen."
Jared Schmitz's father did accept the offer to meet with the President, however that wasn't very rewarding.
The Gold Star parent alleges Mr Biden spoke at length about his own late son, Beau, who died from brain cancer and Mark said 'that didn't sit well with me'.
He told the Washington Post: "When he just kept talking about his son so much, it was just - my interest was lost in that.
"I was more focused on my own son than what happened with him and his son. I'm not trying to insult the president, but it just didn't seem that appropriate to spend that much time on his own son."
But that wasn't the only spray from the parent of one of the 13 soldiers killed in Kabul last week.
Shana Chappell wrote a lengthy attack on Joe Biden, saying: "As my son and the rest of our fallen Heroes were being taken off the plane yesterday I watched you disrespect us all 5 different times by checking your watch!!!
"What the f**k was so important that you had to keep looking at your watch?"
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked about the incident during the daily briefing and she confirmed the President was checking his watch.
She said the President 'was deeply impacted by these family members he met just two days ago' and that he talks about them frequently in meetings and the incredible service and sacrifice of their sons and daughters'.
