Horrifying new footage has emerged of England fans confronting gatecrashers ahead of the Euro 2020 final at Wembley.

Streams of people were seen pushing their way into the stadium before the Three Lions took on Italy, which sparked furious criticism.

The gatecrashers eventually got past the turnstiles and made a beeline for the ticket booth.

However, it was here that they encountered a wall of England fans who were waiting to collect their tickets - ones that they had actually paid for.

As security tried to barricade the doors, the gatecrashers fled the scene on foot but were immediately confronted by a bunch of Three Lions supporters who punched and kicked them in a bid to stop them escaping.

The scenes that unfolded were pretty horrible to watch, with one of the grounded gatecrashers resorting to curling up into a ball to avoid being struck as people tried to stomp on his head.

The young man was eventually escorted away by stadium security.

Later in one of the clips doing the rounds on social media, you can see the same set of blokes unload on another one of the gatecrashers, hammering him with a barrage of blows to the head from all angles.

It was clear many wanted to watch the England men's football team play their first major final since 1996, however the lengths they would go to get a seat wasn't forecast.

A spokesperson for Wembley Stadium said: "We are dealing with an incident that occurred at the outer security perimeter area of the stadium, with support from police.

"Safety measures were quickly activated in the relevant areas and there were no security breaches of people without tickets getting inside the stadium."

London Police even issued a warning ahead of the match for people to stay home unless they wanted to be caught up in the tens of thousands of supporters heading to Wembley where emotions were going to be high.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Laurence Taylor said: "We want people to be able to enjoy the Euros 2020 final safely and securely, behave responsibly and consider the safety and welfare of others.

"London still remains in a public health crisis. There are Government guidelines in place and we ask people to follow these and remain socially distanced.

"We will enforce legislation proportionately and as appropriate and engage with crowds.
