Gluten-intolerant people will no longer be left longing for the chocolate bickie and creme deliciousness that is the Oreo cookie. Hallelujah!

The popular treat is set to come in a gluten-free option early next year and fans are absolutely buzzing.

The brand revealed that traditional and double stuffed cookies will soon be available without gluten in a short announcement on Twitter, which said: "Milk's Favorite Cookie, now in a Gluten Free version. Coming January 2021."

A representative elaborated on the welcome additions, saying: "With the addition of the new line, Oreo invites snackers with a gluten intolerance or gluten sensitivities to enjoy our cookies too."

"At Oreo, we take pride in regularly adding new choices and varieties based on what we're hearing from our fans. Oreo is always looking to welcome more people to experience the playfulness of Oreo cookies."

"We have been planning the launch of our Gluten-Free cookies for some time and are excited to give more fans the opportunity to experience the playfulness of Oreo cookies beginning in January 2021."

After the news debuted, people who have always wanted to have a gluten-free option were celebrating.

"I SWEAR you better NOT be kidding because this isn't funny. This is SUPER serious and I'll cry tears of joy if this is real when I eat one!" one Twitter user wrote.

Another added: "This makes me want to cry. Thank you for considering those who cannot have the normal Oreos--a semblance of what life was like before being diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Thank you."

The company added that they had focused on making sure the recipe delivered a 'comparable snacking experience to the original recipe'.

The original Oreo recipe includes wheat - with gluten being the name of the proteins found in wheat, rye and barley - meaning gluten-intolerant people previously weren't able to enjoy the popular biscuit.
