Guy Martin and JCB have just set a new British record for the fastest tractor after hitting a stunning 103.6mph at Elvington Airfield. The JCB Fastrac tractor beat the previous record, held by Top Gear, by nearly 20mph.
This was not quite your normal JCB tho, the record breaking model used a upgraded version of the 7.2-litre, 6-cylinder DieselMax engine that produces around 1,000 horsepower and over 2,500Nm of torque.
Despite the modifications, JCB have been very keen to highlight that unlike other tractor speed record attempts, the Fastrac machine does still very closely resemble a production model of the tractor and was largely built from many of the same components.

Guy Martin said: "It had been a great day with the JCB at Elvington, proper job with some right proper engineers. She felt rock steady on the runway, job's a peach."
The record was set on the 1.8 mile long runway at Elvington airfield, just outside York. This is the longest runway in the country and gave the JCB plenty of ground to get up to speed. Martin was required to complete two runs down the runway, with an average of both taken as the result.
As with previous record attempts by Guy Martin, like the Highest speed on a Wall of Death, the full story of the record attempt was filmed and will be air in a documentary on Channel 4 later this year.
