A homeless man in Sydney has put up a $300 reward for the return of his pet dog, Shaggy, who went missing from Circular Quay on Sunday.

The devastated dog owner, Nathan, who has been sleeping rough, says he left his pooch in the spot where he sleeps outside Hungry Jack's when he went to use the public toilets.

He had only been gone for two and a half minutes, but when he returned he found his dog was missing.

Nathan's desperate search for Shaggy has been shared in a Facebook post by Arthur & Co. Pet Concierge, a Pet Detective Service.

"Please help, she is all I have" the post reads, alongside a photo of Nathan's cardboard sign with a photo of Shaggy; an older, dark brown small-breed dog," the post said.

"Please SHARE and [call] 0406 834 001 with ANY INFO.

"This little dog is MISSING/SUSPECTED STOLEN from CIRCULAR QUAY, Sydney. LAST SEEN 2pm on 30/08/20. This little sweetie is a HOMELESS PERSON'S PET. She isn't micro-chipped. (Arthur & Co. will assist with vet care and food once the dog is found)."

The loss of his doggo has left Nathan heartbroken, with Nathan saying he hasn't been able to sleep as 'she is all I have'.

After Nathan found her missing on Sunday, he started shouting out for help.

"Everyone thought I was crazy," he said.

Nathan told Arthur & Co. he then approached a policeman who promised to come back but never did.

"All I could do was sit on my bed and cry," he confessed.

Arthur & Co. has pleaded for the public to share the post, and has pledged that it will be assisting with anything his pooch needs (including vets bills, and food) once she is found.

Nathan and Shaggy have been inseparable since Christmas last year after he found the abandoned dog in a shocking state, with a trolley on top of her, in a dumpster in Surry Hills, Sydney. Nathan managed to nurse her back to health and has cared for her ever since.

"I'm very picky about what she eats," Nathan told Arthur & Co. adding that he would selflessly go without food so his best friend wouldn't go hungry. "I saved her but really she saved me."
