A Sydney primary school is under investigation after it was revealed Year 5 and 6 students made signs about Black Lives Matter.

The Daily Telegraph has revealed some of the slogans attached to signs made at the Lindfield Learning Village, which have sparked anger in government circles.

Students wrote messages like 'Stop killer cops', 'Pigs out of the country', 'White lives matter too much', 'Change climate change' and 'You can't silence the speechLess'.

News Corp reports Education Minister Sarah Mitchell has ordered a full review into the school and why the signs were allowed to be put on display when they had controversial statements.

Ms Mitchell said: "These posters should not be displayed in a classroom. Any teacher found to be politicising a classroom will face disciplinary action.

"Political activism has no place in a school. I have asked the Secretary (of the NSW Department of Education) to initiate a full review into this incident."

The Police Minister is also furious at the idea of Year 5 and 6 students making statements that are anti-police.

David Elliott told 2GB Radio the teacher deserves to be sacked for overseeing the exercise and the school should issue an explanation immediately.

"It's been a wide call from the community this morning and overnight," he said.

"[Principal] Stephanie McConnell, in my view, should be fronting the media today and explaining why taxpayers' dollars are being spent to educate children in this manner."

"I can't believe we've got these left-wing teachers out there acting racist themselves by saying white lives don't matter. Well, they do. Everybody matters.

"They have completely let their student body down by indoctrinating and brainwashing them at a time when they really should be learning how to read and write."

He said he would be writing to Lindfield Learning Village and will be asking for an apology on behalf of the 17,000 police officers in New South Wales.

The story broke overnight as a Minneapolis jury was deliberating on whether to find Derek Chauvin guilty of murdering George Floyd.

But the NSW Police Minister has hit back at the suggestion that the state's police are similar to American cops.

"We're Australians. We have a much different relationship with the NSW Police and police forces around the country," he said. "We have a much higher level of respect for our police because they are independent and they do have civilian oversight. When they do the wrong thing, there is a process.

"That doesn't happen in the United States, which is why I'm very, very concerned that teachers are using what's happened in the United States to somehow muddy the waters here."

The signs have since been removed.
