Ivanka Trump has compared her father to Winston Churchill at a rally in Ohio ahead of the US presidential election.

The daughter of Donald Trump addressed his followers at the city of Canfield where she compared the Commander in Chief to 'the legendary' British prime minister.

Ivanka said: "Winston Churchill said, 'It was the nation that had the lion's heart, I just had the luck to give it the roar'.

"How much does this remind you of our president and this movement? He gave us [the] roar."

She added that the President 'made all of us look at our own convictions and ask ourselves, 'What do we want for our country?'.

Ivanka seemed confident that her father would win against his Democratic rival, Joe Biden, and secure another four years in the White House.

"In three days from now, we are going to win, and we are going to secure four more years for the people's president, my father, Donald J Trump," Ivanka continued.

"My father fights so hard every single day for each of us," she said, calling him a 'warrior'.

"Now we have an opportunity to fight for him and fight for the future of this country. We want jobs, we want opportunities, we want to believe in American greatness - and that's what's on the ballot."

Trump's critics were quick to blast the comparison, with one Twitter user posting: "She compared her daddy to Winston Churchill, those Trumps are delusional."

Another added: "Winston Churchill was the backbone of England during WWII. @realDonaldTrump has no backbone. He is too weak to stand up to Putin and other despots. He is so frozen in fear of COVID-19 that he has had no response to it. Churchill would have done everything necessary to beat it."

Americans will head to the polls on Tuesday (Wednesday AEDT) to determine who they want to lead their country for the next four years.

At the moment, Joe Biden maintains a strong lead over his Republican opponent, with a 10 point national lead.

Even if some of the polls emerging from the states are underestimating Trump's support, then Biden will still have enough ballots to win the required 270 Electoral College votes.
