Kyle Rittenhouse has hit out against LeBron James over what the basketballer said during the teen's homicide trial.

When the 18-year-old took the stand to testify about that night in Wisconsin, where he shot dead two people and injured a third, he was overcome with emotion and sobbed uncontrollably.

After seeing the footage from the trial, LeBron wrote on Twitter: "What tears? I didn't see one. Man knock it off! That boy ate some lemon heads before walking into court."

Well, Rittenhouse has now been given a chance to reply to those comments while being interviewed on the You Are Here podcast.

The teenager told hosts Sydney Watson and Elijah Schaffer: "I was really p****d off when he said that because I liked LeBron, and then I'm like, you know what, f**k you, LeBron."

Watson replied: "You have to give the man credit. It took all four of his brain cells to construct that tweet."

While there were some people who supported LeBron's comments at the time, there were loads who thought it was fairly distasteful regardless of where you sat on the Rittenhouse debate.

Ohio councillor Aaron J Carpenter commented: "LeBron James appears to be mocking people dealing with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in this post. Why? Is this a joke to you? Not a good look!"

As 'free speech advocate' Harminder Singh added: "Why is LeBron James on the wrong side of every issue? When you revisit traumatic memories it comes out differently emotionally and/or psychically. Understand the subject before commenting on it."Mark Hertzberg/ZUMA Press

A Twitter user said: "Bruh. Regardless of how you feel about the situation you could show maybe a little better character."

And another bloke replied: "Hey King, sit this one out. You don't have a good history with these takes."

Rittenhouse travelled to Kenosha, Wisconsin from his home in Illinois last year after protests broke out over the shooting of a black man, Jacob Blake, by a white police officer.

The then-17-year-old had an AR-style semi-automatic rifle with him, which his lawyers argued during the trial that he was scared the protestors were going to take his gun and use it against him.

He shot and killed Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, and wounded volunteer medic Gaige Grosskreutz, 27, who testified against him.

But following a three-week trial and three days of deliberation, the 12-person jury found the teenager not guilty on all counts.
