As the November US election nears, celebrities now seem to be coming out of the woodwork in a last-ditch effort to get fans to the voting polls. Now, in a strange turn of events, the latest star to use their platform for politics is rapper Lil Wayne - and he wants Americans to vote for Donald Trump.

Taking to social media to reveal his surprising political stance, Weezy said that he had personally met with Trump to discuss the president's work on criminal reform and his proposed plan for the Black community, aka the Platinum Plan.

Posting a photo following their meeting in Miami on Thursday, he wrote: "Just had a great meeting with (President Donald Trump) besides what he's done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership.

"He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done."

Needless to say, fans were quick to comment to express their understandable surprise over the news.

One fan tweeted: "Trump has done zero for black folks for four years. But he did manage to ram through a tax cut for billionaires and tell white supremacists to 'stand by' on national TV.

"Now he trots out a 'platinum plan' at the last minute to pander to black voters. Anyone falling for it?"

Even 50 Cent, who seemed back Trump for a hot minute but later changed his mind, blasted Lil Wayne for the endorsement, saying he would 'never' take such a photo.

This follows fellow rapper Ice Cube coming under fire last week after it was revealed that he was also working with the Trump administration on the Platinum Plan.
