A 52-year-old man from Western Australia has been charged after he was accused of trying to smuggle meth into Perth hotel quarantine.

Police say the man visited the hotel around midday on New Year's Day, saying he was there to drop off some takeaway food to a person in quarantine.

"The man appeared to be acting in a nervous manner," police said in a statement on Saturday.

After police and security searched the food, they allegedly discovered four syringes inside a thickshake, as well as a clip seal bag containing about 1.2 grams of methylamphetamine inside burger - more specifically, what looked to be a Quarter Pounder, if you were wondering.

"Further evidence was located, which indicated he had been communicating with a person in quarantine in relation to delivering a quantity of methylamphetamine to the hotel," police continued.

The Beaconsfield man has since been charged with possessing a prohibited drug with intent to sell or supply and is due to face Perth Magistrates Court on January 29.

Acting Premier Roger Cook said it took 'all sorts to fill up hotel quarantine'.

"What it goes to show is that we have all walks of life in our hotel quarantine," he told reporters on Saturday. "Some who are doing the right thing, others who have got a more relaxed view about the rules and the laws of the state.

"It's great that our security teams were able to get on top of that situation."

It comes after a woman quarantining in a Perth hotel tried to smuggle in drugs in a fast-food order carried by a friend back in October.

Police claim Christopher John Camilleri, 37, went to the woman's quarantine hotel on Hay Street carrying a fast-food bag to deliver to the woman's room before police discovered drugs that were wrapped in aluminium foil and hidden inside a bag of fries.

Police would not reveal what the drugs were.
