An Australian bloke has stumbled across a pretty intimidating sight while bushwalking in Western Australia.

While kangaroos are a celebrated animal in the Land Down Under, they're also to be feared when they're in their natural habitat.

But Jackson Vincent couldn't help but get as close to the roo as possible when he spotted it in Boodjidup Creek.

"I am pretty confident around animals but the moment when he started to come out of the water my heart definitely jumped and I decided to take a few steps back," he told the Telegraph.

"He looked to be at least two metres tall or taller and must have weighed at least 100kg. I definitely wouldn't like to take him on in a boxing match."

What was of particular concern was that Vincent was walking his pet kelpie Dharma.

Kangaroos are known to hop into a waterbed when approached by a potential threat. They will wait there until the animal comes a little closer before using their claws to grab and drown it.

People on social media were quick to point that little known fact.

One person said: "Never go near a kangaroo that's near water, you may think its pretty cool and all but in reality they're just trying to get you to come near them so they can attack and drown you, long story short never trust a kangaroo."

Another added: "When I was young my friend lost a dog this way. Roo drowned the poor thing."

Despite the intimidating sight, many were also blown away by the roo's impressive stature and imagined what it would be saying.

One person said: "Yeah I've been hittin the bench press during lockdown...feeling good man."

A different user quipped: "Nah, no crocs here mate...not anymore."

Loads of people are asking for his gym routine as they'd love to bulk up as much as he has.

While it's all fun and games on the internet, be aware that you should always keep your distance from these majestic animals as they will throw down at the slightest instance of provocation.
