Jarod Lee Nandin has sadly died from the coronavirus.

The World of Warcraft gamer and South Park cosplayer revealed he had contracted the virus on December 22 last year.

He wrote on social media: "Wasn't sure I was gonna worry you guys but things are now looking good. Went to the ER yesterday for chest pains. They suspect I have covid. Test results not in yet. Feeling better after treatments. Again, things look good so don't fret. Will keep you all posted."

A few days after testing positive, Nandin explained how he was suffering from breathing complications.

He wrote on Twitter: "Breathing complications arose. Treatment plan reevaluated. Working on it. Doing okay."

The next day he added: "Breathing issues still a problem. Oxygen saturation levels keep dropping below 90. They are trying to figure things out. Waiting to know more."

On January 3, a few friends explained he had died and they reflected on what a fun, loveable person he was.

Tributes have come in thick and fast since news of his death was announced.

The official Twitter account for World of Warcraft said: "We're sad to hear the news of Jarod Nandin passing. His kindness and passion helped shape the cosplay community for the better. We extend our sincerest condolences to Jarod's family, friends, and fans."

A fan added: "The Blizzcon Cosplay community lost a friend to Covid today. Jarod Nandin was best known for his cosplay of The Warcraft South Park Guy but he was also an advocate for cosplay positivity and encouraged people to cosplay whatever they want. He will be missed."

Another wrote: "Most people know him as @JarodNWBZPWNR but I knew him as Jarod Nandin. One of the most genuine human beings I had ever met, and a great friend to me, who was always there for everyone. Today I learned he lost his fight with COVID."

Nandin rocketed to fame for cosplaying as Jenkins the Griefer from the 2006 South Park episode 'Make Love Not Warcraft'.

In the episode, Jenkins tears up a WoW server with his incredible skills and near undefeatable character. He slaughtered everyone on the map, including Cartman, Kenny, Stan and Kyle multiple times.

The four main characters spent weeks training their WoW characters until they're able to beat Jenkins in a massive battle.

Nandin capitalised on his likeness to the character and even partly shaved his head to make him look more like Jenkins. He debuted his cosplay in 2013 at BlizzCon and he won fans all over the world.
