Whether you're chowing down pizza or hitting up some spaghetti, garlic bread is one hell of an addition to any meal.

But have you ever stopped to think that maybe this heavenly creation isn't just a side dish. What if it could be...the star of the show.

Well, if you're in Melbourne then you'll be getting that in its entirety with a goddamn Garlic Bread Festival.

The event is hitting the Victorian capital next month and it is set to be bloody delicious.

Welcome to Thornbury is putting on this delectable occasion and there are already more than 4,000 people interested in attending.

Writing on their Facebook page, the organisers said: "A whole day dedicated to eating and celebrating garlic bread. This event only happens once a year and, like Christmas, is truly sacred and special.

"Expect garlic bread burgers, garlic bread gozleme, fancy garlic bread and good ol' classic garlic bread!

"The champs behind the bar will be slinging some savoury cocktails to perfectly match your garlic bread of choice."

*heavy breathing intensifies*

The bar is also reportedly kicking up some minty cocktails that will cleanse the hell out of that palate and ensure your breath won't stink if you're on that first date and want to impress.

Kids and dogs are welcome at the event that kicks off next weekend on April 10 at midday in Northcote.

There will be vegan options available at the food festival, meaning nearly everyone can get in on the action. There's no word on gluten-free options so it's best you check with the festival organisers.
